Our services include one to one support plan, progress assessment and regular review including training for 13 weeks parental course and mentoring plus home visit. The Children Act 1989 aimed to protect the child from harm. The Children Act 2004 aims to further improve children’s lives and gives the legal underpinning to ‘Every Child Matters. The Children and Young Person Act 2008 has also been introduced to ensure children and young people receive high quality care and support. Other Acts closely linked to the Children Act are Protection of Children Act 1999, Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 and Childcare Act 2006. We are a part of 'Youth Knife Inquiry' at the House of Commons and we have successfully reached out to over 7,000 youths and 470 parents.
Working in partnership with parents, leaders, and profesionals to protect the child from harm and promote a better relationship with children within the family. To find a way forward, we educate and raise awareness on the increase in safeguarding issues in the UK. I greatly appreciate those that have taken up this challenge and whom I work alongside in bettering our community. Over the past three years, World of Hope has been recognised as one of the leading organi-sations in Greenwich and Southwark as well as successfully organising London week of peace events. Different activities were put together such as football tournaments, award ceremonies, community togetherness events to promote peace. We are supported by MPs, Borough commanders, Mayors, Councillors, Abbeywood's neighbourhood team and spiritual leaders.
After discharging from 13 weeks parental course, the children will be seen once a month and mum separately to ensure that both mum and children understand a better ways to handle any conflict in the home to avoid children being taking away for child protection reasons. I feel fulfilled that I have contributed positively through my actions in reaching out to young people and parents to find solutions to the issues facing them. This later developed as a platform for other people who are passionate like me to be part of the team to stand for their com-munities rather than ignoring the situation.
We thought the programme was excellent and it was of great help to us. We learned how to approach problems in a positive way and we received so much support from the founder of World of Hope (Florence Emakpose). The programme has actually helped my family and lets us gauge if we are doing a good job. It is very helpful to be able to talk about things and get reinforcement that we are doing it right and also to get tips on how we could do things differently. This is a great programme and every parent should try it. We learned and gained so much.
